The Post

The former Vancouver Post Office on Georgia Street consists of a five (5) storey building, which will be substantially renovated primarily for retail uses and parking. Due to higher than normal floor to floor heights, the design incorporates two additional interstitial parking floors. Above the existing podium, the three partial levels of office use (gondola) from the original Post Office will be demolished. Two completely new office buildings (north tower; 21 storeys, south tower; 20 storeys) will rise above the roof levels.

In collaboration with bcIMC Realty Corporation c/o QuadReal Property Group & Experience Design Group Inc., Cenelia led the design development process for their Pylon Sign & Parkade Specifications, as well as Code signage & Tenant Guidelines. Her work focused on providing design support, materiality selection and mounting specification that integrate seamlessly into the architectural language of the development complementing its mid-century modern style whilst also supporting the original heritage character of the site.

The intent is that the new sign program appears as a unified “family” of Sign Types. The Post supports a unique an arrival experience with distinctive signage that is welcoming and signals the rich contemporary offering of the new offices and supporting retail and commercial services. The signage system was carefully designed as a unified family of sign types to establish a distinct sense of place and enhance the arrival experience for all visitors—whether first-time, occasional, or regular. Through thoughtful planning and clear visual communication, the program supports intuitive navigation, reinforces brand identity, and contributes to increased visitor engagement and foot traffic throughout the offices, retail spaces, and amenities of the complex.
